The Three Gorges Dam Scenic Area has welcomed its first group of cruise ship tourists from North America, which consists of more than 100 American Chinese and European visitors. These tourists took the Cunard Century Cruise to visit scenic spots along the Chongqing–Shanghai route and explore tourist destinations with strong historical and cultural characteristics, among which Yichang is a must-visit stop on the Yangtze River cruise route.
To meet the customer demands of the high-end cruise market, the Three Gorges Dam Scenic Area launched the customized "Three Gorges Dam Plus" product in 2022. The scenic area provides customers with full-process services including customized special routes, business cars and VIP tour guides, bringing tourists a comfortable and unique personalized travel experience.
"This is a project full of wisdom and absolutely stunning. This trip has given us an amazing experience!" a Spanish couple said excitedly at the River Closure Memorial Park, who chose the customized tour route of the Three Gorges Dam Scenic Area.
In recent years, Yichang City has focused on creating four world-class business cards: landscape tourism, cultural tourism, engineering tourism and health and wellness tourism. It has been continuously building the Yangtze River International Golden Tourism Belt to support the development of the "Three Gorges of the Yangtze River" as a world-class tourism brand. In September, during the 14th China Yangtze River Three Gorges International Tourism Festival, the Yangtze River Cruise Tourism Cooperation and Development Forum with the theme of "New Corridors, New Tracks, New Products" was held. Tourism administrative departments and cruise enterprises from Chongqing, Wuhan and Yichang jointly discussed the development path of the Yangtze River cruise industry.
With the recovery of the global tourism market, various cruise companies will successively organize nearly 3,000 tourists from North America and Southeast Asia to visit the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River from October to December this year, including 600 tourists from the North American market. This is the largest series of inbound tourist groups from North America received by Yangtze River cruises this year.
It is reported that these inbound tourist groups have booked the customized "Three Gorges Dam Plus" product and will visit the River Closure Memorial Park and the Three Gorges Project Museum of the Three Gorges Dam respectively. The Three Gorges Dam Scenic Area will continue to lead the inbound tourism market in Yichang.
