The Three Gorges Dam is extremely crowded during the Spring Festival, one of its peak tourism seasons, with visitor numbers hitting new highs year after year.
According to the latest data, during the 2024 Spring Festival holiday, the Three Gorges Dam Scenic Area received nearly 135,000 visitors, an increase of 30.37% compared to the best performance in the same period in history, setting a new record. This number even exceeded the single-day reception volume of some legal holidays, with crowds surging in the scenic area. Tourists mainly came from all over China, mostly families, parent-child groups and middle-aged and elderly people.
During the 2025 Spring Festival holiday (January 29 to February 5, 2025), the Three Gorges Dam Scenic Area received a total of more than 110,000 visitors, continuing its strong tourism popularity. During the 2026 Spring Festival holiday (February 10 to 17, 2026), the number of reservations for the scenic area reached more than 30,000 on the fourth day of the Lunar New Year (February 20), showing an unprecedented boom in recent years, approaching the level of the May Day and National Day holidays.
